What are we up to during the summer of 2011?

We are going to have a HAPPENING at the Cowichan Centre for Progressive Christianity. We envision it as a combination -

• Chance to revive the world-changing ideals and passion of the 1960's and 70's
• Camping Holiday (everyone invited, really, we are truly inclusive)
• Retreat (theme, Progressive Christianity)
• Mini-Woodstock (clean, sober and fully clothed this time)
• Learning Experience (there will be some video presentations, if anyone wants the podium for a time,
  let us know)
• Celebration of the dawning of a new and enlightened era of Journeying with Jesus
• Training camp for the building of The Kingdom of God, here on Earth

What will we offer and provide?

• Basic camping space for tents and RV's
• Vehicle parking for local residents and non-campers
• Shelter for gathering and communal meals
• A "Soap Box" to deliver your ideas from
• A river for swimming (please see Mini-Woodstock above and bring your bathing suit!)
• Quiet places to walk, sit, talk, paint, think, and most of all make new friends
• Daily passenger train service for excursions to the north or access from the south (Victoria)
• Portable toilets (always leave the best for last!)

Do you play an instrument? . . . . . . . BRING IT!!!

This is about as plain and simple as it can be to get your message across.

Maybe plain and simple is something we should try. We have a simple message to give to the world so why do we need to insist that people join an elaborate infrastructure and make life-long commitments to hear it.

Some Questions and Answers

• How much will it cost?
  - not much.
  - depending on what facilities we use, there may be a nominal camping fee.
  - there will be a small registration fee to cover the cost of a hand-out, propane, toilets etc.
  - pretty well everything else will be by donation.
• How "Churchy" will this event be?
  - as "Churchy" as you want it to be.
  - come for the evening to sit around the campfire and talk.
  - start your own talk group during the day.
  - organize a walk to talk about Environmental Stewardship.
  - come to the services . . . or don't, it's up to you.
• What food services will be available?
  - coffee and tea (you may have to make a new pot yourself), propane barbeques
  - there will probably be at least 1 pre-arranged Sunday Brunch served
  - there will almost certainly be communal meals arranged on an ad hoc basis
• Will there be formal programming?
  - probably, but what, how often and when are not finalised yet.
• How about services of Praise and Thanksgiving?
  - Sunday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM (there might be more).
    This is beginning to sound like Woodstock already!
• Will this Happening be pet friendly?
  - Yes, pet owners must control and clean up after their friends.
